April McLeod-Baker began her professional career as an apprentice with The Sacramento Ballet and has danced as a student with the Pennsylvania Ballet while on full scholarship at The Rock School. April has performed for many classical and contemporary ballet companies throughout Southern California and has held soloist and principle roles in California Riverside Ballet’s Nutcracker and City of Angels Ballet’s Raymonda, Valse Fantasie and Sleeping Beauty.
April joined City of Angels Ballet in 2004 where Mario Nugara, Artistic Director taught her injury‑prevention ballet techniques that focus on body and mind awareness and infuse a high level of professionalism and discipline to all students. City of Angels Ballet advanced her capability as a dancer and aided her in continuing her dance career. In 2006, April joined the City of Angels Ballet as a faculty member and CRB Company Member. From Mario Nugara, Artistic Director, she learned injury‑prevention ballet techniques. April leverages this insight to help students intentionally align their thoughts with the desired movement of the body. For April, teaching young dancers is a responsibility she welcomes. Through her work with City of Angels Ballet, she seeks to inspire and encourage the next generation of dancers to reach their fullest potential.
